In the history of the Knicks 2011-2012 season, there are only two periods worth mentioning Before Lin (BL) and After Lin (AL). Thanks to Lin-sanity the team has been born again with a fresh outlook and a real chance of making the playoffs. The stats tell a compelling story for why the team is so much better in the Lin era. With Jeremy handling point guard duties, the team has taken a more aggresive approach. They are getting to the basket more and relying less on three-pointers, which translates to a higher field goal percentage and more free throws taken. Lin is also showcasing his playmaking abilities to distribute the basketball (sorry Toney Douglas and Iman Shumpert, this is a true PG) resulting in fewer turnovers and more assists. Taking better care of the basketball and getting easier shots means more points (5 more so far) and most importantly more wins. The team has gone from sub-.500 ball to unbeatable since the commencement of the A.L. era. Let’s hope we never have to go back.
