Charles Pierce at Grantland suggests that we should not be making a cartoon out of Jeremy Lin’s rise to stardom. Woops. He must have seen our banner (go ahead, scroll up). But his real point is that Lin-sanity is only 23 years old and has had an incredibly rapid ascent to deity-like status. Pierce thinks that we should do a little less sensationalizing and a little more letting Jeremy be Jeremy. We, on the other hand, feel that Jeremy is by nature a sensation, so by celebrating his success we’re really just celebrating Jeremy. We think that if Jeremy is a cartoon he’s Bugs Bunny, Captain Planet, and Superman all rolled into one. And what’s so wrong about that?
